The Challenge

An endoscopy solution provider needed to modernise the image management capabilities embedded in their procedural platform. Clinicians were spending excessive time on manual image capture, annotation, and report generation — time that should have been focused on patient care. The existing system lacked structured workflows, had partial DICOM compliance, and did not integrate cleanly with hospital information systems. As endoscopy volumes grew and reporting requirements became more demanding, the gap between what the system could do and what clinical teams needed widened.

• Redesigned the image capture workflow to enable automatic, trigger-based image acquisition during procedures — reducing manual steps and ensuring consistent documentation

• Implemented full DICOM compliance, enabling seamless integration with hospital PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) and standardised image storage

• Built structured reporting templates that clinicians could populate during or immediately after procedures, with automatic data population from the image management system

• Developed HL7 integration interfaces to enable bidirectional data flow with hospital information systems, eliminating duplicate data entry

• Optimised image processing and storage performance to handle high-resolution endoscopy imagery at procedural volumes without latency

Outcome

Endoscopy teams at client hospitals gained a significantly streamlined procedural workflow — from image capture through to structured reporting and record archiving. DICOM compliance enabled clean integration with hospital PACS systems, eliminating the manual transfer steps that had been a recurring source of data errors. Report generation time was reduced, and the consistency and completeness of procedural records improved.
